Enter the Boulevard ClickTight Convertible Car Seat from Britax.

What exactly is a convertible car seat and how does it differ from an infant car seat?

We’re glad you asked!

Infant car seats are strictly rear-facing and used for the first few months of a child’s life. Convertible car seats (aka “second stage car seats”) are car seats that can be placed in either rear-facing or forward-facing positions. Switching to a convertible car seat happens anywhere between 9 and 24 months of age.

Installing the ClickTight is about as easy as it can get, making it a great option for parents and those who aren’t overly familiar with car seat installation (ie. nannies, grandparents, family friends, etc.)

The seat lifts up (like a car trunk) and reveals two belt paths, one for forward-facing or rear-facing path. Simply thread the seat belt through the corresponding path, tighten up the slack, close the seat, and you’re done! Britax also supports connection via LATCH, but using the seat belt path is the more secure option for this seat.

Additionally, a V-shaped rear tether strap (for forward-facing mode) allows you to secure the car seat to the anchor behind your vehicle’s backseat.

SAFE AS CAN BE


The safety features on the ClickTight are numerous and another reason parents (and us here at Snuggle Bugz) love this car seat!

Here are are fav features:
  • Britax includes their patented SafeCell technology in the seat’s base, which creates a crumple zone that absorbs energy in the event of a crash. 
  • The car seat is crafted with a rugged steel frame (and spine) for heavy-duty protection. 
  • It’s lined with dense, energy-absorbing EPP foam around the headrest and side walls. This creates a double layer of side impact protection. Additionally, the headrest has 14 different positions to ensure the right fit as your child grows.

  • Britax connects the headrest to a no-rethread, tangle-free, 5-point harness for a snug fit that you’ll never have to fiddle around with — a lifesaver for busy parents and caretakers! 
  • The ClickTight also includes an anti-rebound bar for use in rear-facing mode (it can be removed when used in forward-facing mode). If you’re unfamiliar with ARBs, they help stabilize the seat and significantly reduce rotation during front, rear, and side-impact collisions.

DESIGNED FOR COMFORT


You can put all the safety features you want into a car seat, but if it’s uncomfortable for baby’s squishy little body, it’s pretty useless!

Thankfully, Britax knows how to do comfort right.

Included on the ClickTight, is generous amounts of foam padding that provides babies with a luxurious seat to rest their bottom. Covering the foam is Nanotex fabric which is stain, moisture, and odor-resistant (a parent’s dream!). The cover can also be removed for tossing in the washing machine when it does get grubby.

You can also adjust the angle of the seat, although (and we can’t stress this enough) this is not to pacify your baby with their own personal La-Z-Boy. Angle adjustment is done upon installation to properly position your child in the seat. An indicator makes it simple for parents to choose the correct angle for baby to rest while the vehicle is in motion.

Finally, Britax offers a Car Seat Cup Holder so your child can stay hydrated and sip on their favourite bevy during the ride.
